The Golfer’s Guide to Vegas

As you might imagine, Las Vegas is a golfer’s paradise. After all, with year-round sunshine and some of the most stunning courses in the country, Vegas offers everything a golfer could ask for. In this Insider Guide, we’ll tee off and take a look at the best golfing in Las Vegas.

Top-Notch Courses

Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort, just 25 minutes northwest of the Strip, is a must-visit for any serious golfer. Each course offers incredible holes and breathtaking desert views, but The Wolf, in particular, stands out. It’s the longest and most challenging of the three courses at Paiute and, perhaps, the most distinctive. Featuring course architect Pet Dye’s signature railroad tie bunkers, The Wolf also has a famous island green on the 15th hole that tests the most skilled golfers.

TPC Las Vegas delivers a different kind of pro-level experience, about 20 minutes from the Strip. This par-71, 7,106-yard course is designed by Bobby Weed and Raymond Floyd, which means you can depend on the golf being great at this former PGA Tour venue. Expect a challenging desert-style layout with wasteland areas in play — and look forward to stunning views of Red Rock Canyon. The course’s signature hole is the par-3 2nd hole, featuring a dramatic elevation drop and panoramic views of the Las Vegas Valley.

Finally, you can’t beat Bali Hai for convenience, seeing as it’s right on the Las Vegas Strip. This tropical-themed course features white sand bunkers, palm trees, and water on fully half of its 18 holes. At 7,002 yards and par 71, it offers a solid challenge for even the best golfers. Bali Hai is best known for its memorable par-3 holes, including an island green on the 16th that resembles the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass. The course’s unique design also incorporates over 4,000 trees, giving the impression of a lush oasis in the desert.

Luxury Golf Experiences

Looking for upscale golf? Rio Secco offers a high-end experience with some of the best views of Las Vegas. Located in Henderson, about 30 minutes from the Strip, this Rees Jones design stretches 7,313 yards. The course is divided into three distinct sections: six holes cut through a broad canyon, another six played on a plateau overlooking the canyon, and the final six that return to the canyon floor. Locals love the variety in terrain and elevation, which means you will, too.

Head to Cascata in Boulder City for another truly luxurious round. Cascata, another Rees Jones masterpiece, is set in a spectacular desert mountain landscape, complete with running creeks and a 418-foot waterfall behind the driving range. Water comes into play on 10 separate holes, helping Cascata — which means “waterfall” in Italian — live up to its name. Interestingly, the course winds through canyons, providing breathtaking views and a unique golfing experience. The par-3 7th hole is a standout, featuring a 37-foot waterfall that cascades down a rock face behind the green. (Be sure to check out the clubhouse and the river that runs beneath it — and through the pro shop!)
